Pratt Institute School of Architecture fall lecture series will feature several large names in architecture along with their continuing exhibition of Latin American architecture and with strong emphasis on disaster architecture. All lectures to take place on the Brooklyn Campus will begin at 6 pm in the Higgins Hall Auditorium at 61 St. James Place, unless otherwise noted.
All Manhattan Campus lectures will begin at 6:30 pm and will take place at 144 West 14th Street, Room 213. All lectures are free and open to the public.

Thursday, September 8 “Breaking Borders: New Latin American Architecture” Exhibition Opening Curated by Latin Pratt and Professor Ivan Shumkov
Thursday, October 6 Cecil Balmond Cecil Balmond has been hailed as one of the most important forces in contemporary architecture today and in 2003 received the prestigious RIBA Charles Jencks award for Theory in Practice. He is also the recipient of the Gengo Matsui prize, one of the highest prizes for engineering given in Japan. In conversation with Pratt’s Graduate Architecture and Urban Design Professor Catherine Ingraham, the evening will surely prove to be an exciting event.

Monday, October 17 Peter Bohlin If you find Apple stores invigorating then you won’t want to miss their designer’s presentation. Peter Bohlin is an American architect and the winner of the 2010 Gold Medal of the American Institute of Architects. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and a founding principal of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson.
Tuesday, October 18 Wolf Prix As one of the co-founders of the world-renowned COOP HIMMELB(L)AU, architect Wolf Prix has won numerous prestigious awards for his structures as well as a host of other awards for his teaching. The firm’s latest projects include the European Central Bank and Denmark’s House of Music and Munich’s Pavilion 21 Mini-Opera Space.
Monday, October 24 Enrique Norten Enrique Norten is a Mexican architect and principal of the design firm TEN Arquitectos (Taller de Enrique Norten Arquitectos). In the past two decades, the firm’s projects have been recognized with numerous awards, such as the 2009 Institute Merit Design Award from the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter for the Xochimilco Master Plan and Aquarium and a National 2009 Institute Honor Award For Regional And Urban Design from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for the Orange County Great Park. Enrique Norten holds the Miller Chair at the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia since 1998. He has held the O’Neil Ford Chair in Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin, the Lorch Professor of Architecture Chair at the University of Michigan, and the Elliot Noyes Visiting Design Critic at Harvard University. Thursday, November 17 Patrick Schumacher As the company director and Senior Designer for the famous Zaha Hadid Studio, Patrick Schumacher is involved in all aspects of Ms. Hadid’s projects including the MAXXI Centre of Contemporary Art and architecture in Rome. One of the studio’s first completed projects it won the 2010 Stirling Prize.
